The Pelican Micro 1060 case is just large enough to hold a complete station built around the KX1, including antenna, power and paddle.

Since I plan to be travelling a lot with this kit, I took advantage of the tranparent box to put a copy of my FCC license between the liner and the clear plastic exterior - handy for airline luggage inspections.

In the space above the foam there is plenty of room for a wire antenna and counterpoise, and a pair of earbuds. You can also see the BNC-to-binding post adapter and my quick reference cards in the top lid.

Since I just completed my KX1 and am new to it, and the user interface is quite rich, I decided to make quick reference cards and include them in the package. These were made from scans of the KX1 manual, reduced to a size that fits in the case and laminated for water and stain resistance.

The pick and place foam set for the 1060 case perfectly accomodates the KX1 and the KXPD1 paddle. Underneath the paddle I have room for the BNC-to-binding post adapter for direct connection of wire antennas.

There is also a separate spot in the foam for a BNC-to-SO239 to provide connections to coax terminated in a PL-259. Under the foam I tucked a hex wrench for the encoder knob set screw, and an alignment tool as well.

The Pelican Micro 1060 case is waterproof to 50 feet, and has an automatic pressure purge valve. I got mine from Cases4Less.com at a very reasonable price.

You can find a wealth of information on the KX1 tranceiver kit at Elecraft
